Ruardean Hill Rangers U13s VS West Worcester Quarter Final

On February 19, 2025, Ruardean Hill clinched a 3-0 away win against West Worcester in the C&G Cup Quarter Final. Having already faced West Worcester earlier in the season, Ruardean knew they were up against a tough team with a solid defence and quick attackers. The match kicked off with both sides displaying signs of nervousness, but Ruardean quickly took control, with Cole causing problems for the left back and sending in great crosses. In the 13th minute, Arthur just inside the 18 yard box, with his back to goal he twisted to his left then back to his right and sent the ball into the bottom corner. West Worcester responded with increased urgency, primarily attacking down the left. Alex defended resolutely, supported by Levi, who contributed both well in defence and attack. The central defensive duo of Charlie and Kamil remained solid, while goalkeeper Zack effectively dealt with any long balls directed into the box. At the other end Levi and Leo were linking up well, Otto relentlessly pursuing the ball. Jayden, stepping in for the injured Alfie, performed admirably, and Vinny, the right back, continued to assert his presence with strong challenges, limiting West Worcester's opportunities. The only significant threat from West Worcester in the first half was a long-range lob that Zack comfortably allowed to pass over the bar. At halftime, the score stood at West Worcester 0, Ruardean Hill 1, with the team aware that a single goal would not be enough. Worcester kicked off the second half with a strong push, forcing Ruardean back into their own half. Ruardeans best outlet was the pace of their front three: Levi, Cole, and Leo. About twenty minutes in, after a corner for Worcester, Ruardean quickly countered. Levi sent a long ball down the middle, the defenders had a 4 yard start on Leo but he outpaced them and was another 4 yards in front of them as he slotted the ball in the back of the net. The away fans went wild, and the team's relief was clear as they started creating more chances. Archie, who replaced Jayden at halftime, almost scored with a close shot, but the keeper made a great save. Ruardean's squad depth showed, as their subs kept the momentum going; Benji, playing left back despite being right-footed, did well, and Jenson, who came on for Vinny, set up Leo and Cole for more attacks. As the match wound down, Leo, Cole, and Arthur teamed up to net the third goal. Ruardean controlled the rest of the game, and now they’re looking ahead to the semi-final against Montpellier Youth in March.
